Ht: 6-8 Wt: 210
Childhood Heroes: I didn’t have any in basketball. I liked Drew Pearson, Roger Staubach and Billy Joe Dupree.
Early Basketball Memory: 52 points, 32 rebounds in college. 1985. My senior year (with Southeastern Oklahoma State University) against Bethane Nazareth.
Favorite Movies: The Road To Utopia. Bob Hope and Bing Crosby. The one-liners are great. Keep your mind thinking, keep it going. I like all those Road To movies, just love them.
Nicknames: Wormalistic, Wormazoid, Demolition Man, As The Worm Turns. It started out a Worm, then people started to get creative.
First Job: Working at Baby Doe’s Restaurant as a busboy in Dallas (age 15).
First Car: 1977 maroon Chevy Monte Carlo. $1500 bucks. That was a great, great car.
Hobbies/Interests: Boating, wildlife and nature. I love wildness.
Childhood Ambition: None whatsoever.
Favorite Meal: Soup and Sugar Bears.
Favorite Ice Cream Flavor: Chocolate and vanilla.
Toothbrush Color: Red.
Musical Tastes: I love Pearl Jam, because they’re angry. They want people to respect them for what they are, not what people want them to be. They are what you see. What you see is what you get.
Favorite Book: A menu. I love to read a menu.
Greatest Sports Moment: The runner in the Olympics. She couldn’t finish the race but she did. That was the moment. I don’t remember her name or where it was. She had an internal problem, she was bleeding down her leg. I remember she was trying so hard. She kept getting up. People were trying to help her but she wouldn’t let them. That was a great moment. That’s what you call guts and determination.
Funniest Player Encountered: Chuck Nevitt.
Closest NBA Friends: John Salley. William Bedford. Chuck Daly. Brendan Malone.
Toughest Competitors Encountered: Myself. Charles Barkley. James Worthy.
Favorite Athletes To Watch: Nolan Ryan. Buck Williams – I’d like to see him do well, he’s overdue for a ring. People that work so hard to get where they want to be that fall short. I want to see them come back and do it.
Favorite Sport To Watch Outside Basketball: Dog racing.
Last Halloween Costume: I was a fag. I don’t know how else to put it. I was a crossdresser last year.
Interesting Fact: I’m just a weird individual. Unpredictable. Unbalanced. One minute I feel one way, until the next I feel different. I don’t try to be (different), that’s just the way I am.
Future Ambition: I want my daughter Alexis to be a millionaire. I want to do all I can to help her succeed in whatever it is she wants to do.
People Qualities Most Admired: Brendan Malone. Chuck Daly. James Rich.
Career Accomplishments: Five-time NBA Champion, Seven-time NBA rebounding champion, Two-time Defensive Player of the Year, Two-time NBA All Star.
Dennis Rodman Ultimate Highlights
(Note: This Biofile was done before a San Antonio Spurs vs New York Knicks pre-season game at Madison Square Garden, shortly after Rodman joined the Spurs in 1993. I approached Rodman at his locker, he agreed to do the interview but requested to do it in the shower as he brushed his teeth, with the water running, apparently as a muffle so teammates couldn’t hear the conversation – only logical conclusion I could make of it. Of course Rodman went on to win three more NBA titles with Chicago, to add to his two with Detroit.)
